All the news, as it happens.

Jeff dutifully drove FINSUP, his '69 Series IIa 500 miles and changed the
break in oil before setting out for the Maine Winter Romp this morning.
This was to break-in the second Turner Engine (the first bent a rod earlier
this year with ~2000 miles on it !), and the vendor, RN, stood behind the
product it sold, and kindly supplied this one, (but it should be noted that
the re-manufacturer, Turner, did not stand by their workmanship,
Rover's North really did make good in supplying another engine.
Anyway, Jeff got about 60 miles from home, up on I-91 South of Hartford, and
there was a bang followed by billowing clouds of radiator steam... preliminary
analysis is that the fan loosened up and got out of plane, puncturing the
radiator. [Rumors that Eric Zipkin was the person who pressed that fan on
the shaft some years ago are entirely TRUE.]
As he was on the phone to me waiting for it to stop pissing all over the
place, Marty from Long Island pulled up (who we were to rendezvous with
in Worcester), and they've called AAA to send it back to the shop that
did the work, and Jeff should be on his way with Marty by now. We'll
meet in Worcester, and I'll drive the Rangie up and most likely take
Jeff back to Rowayton after the Romp.
