Who are the Empire Rover Owners Society Ltd.?
A number of the usual suspects determined that we needed to form our very own club. Offially the common name is 'the Empire' though the club is also occasionally referred to by the acronym E.R.O.S.
What is the Empire Rover Owners Society Ltd.?
Basically a bunch of Land Rover anoraks who like to slog through the mud, have fun and then party afterwards.
Where is the Empire Rover Owners Society Ltd.?
Everywhere.
We're loosely based in the Hudson and Mohawk River Valleys, along the Erie Canal, the Long Island Sound, (which is to say all over the Great State of New York, the Empire State), and the Potomac river valleys (see Tread Firmly).
However - given the our name Empire Rover Owners Society, we've got that imperialist thing on our side, thus we're out to conquer the world.
When are Empire meetings and events ?
When ever and where ever you find Empire members rovering, no matter where you go,
there you are.
The Empire has no intention to throw a huge periodic events; we are far too busy attending other clubs events -- and being imperialists, expect the Empire to conquer them :-)
Who is EROS ?
Some of you probably recognize that the four letter acronym for the Empire Rover Owners Society, Eros, is also the name of the god of love in Greek Mythology.
Does Empire have a newsletter ?
After a meticulous survey was conducted, EROS members came to the conclusion that the best club publication in the Empire is the monthly Ottawa Valley Land Rovers newletter. Eschewing liability, deadlines and printing costs, the Empire has thus proclaimed that the OVLR newsletter is the official newletter of the Empire Rover Owners Society Ltd. How to join OVLR

How much does it cost to join the Empire Rover Owners Society Ltd.?
The Empire has not yet levied any taxes on the membership.
However, as the Empire grows, this may change, (and you know how costly it can be to support a bureaucracy and the royal family and entorage). [Unlike certain other clubs, the Empire does not belive in taxation without representation, but ... don't push your luck, you've not paid any taxes yet, eh ?]
How exclusive is the Empire Rover Owners Society Ltd.?
We're not.
In fact, membership in some form of local Land Rover owner club is nearly mandatory (the Empire needs to build its network of spies, old boy). The Empire highly recommends joining a local club. If you don't have one, look under clubs here.
Not to influence you, but given the official newsletter is from OVLR, you should join OVLR, but it should be recorded that a number of highly placed EROS members belong to one or more of the following clubs:

- who fails to obey the tennants of the Country Code
- who fails to obey the tennants of Tread Lightly programme
- who behaves or drives wrecklessly
- who so acts as to otherwise endager flora or fauna
- who exhibits conduct unbecoming of an Empire Rover Owners Society member.
